Introducing Swift's energy efficient Ardennes holiday home
Published:
In response to the growing demand for sustainable and energy-efficient solutions, Swift Group has developed a ground breaking holiday home set to redefine the industry.
In collaboration with the University of Hull, the Aura Innovation Centre, and Lampada Digital Solutions, this project introduces the ‘Energy Efficient Ardennes’, a prototype holiday home designed for both owners and holiday home providers seeking an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient solution.
Set to be unveiled at this year’s Great Caravan, Motorhome and Holiday Home Show in Harrogate, the Energy Efficient Ardennes features significant building fabric enhancements, including 200mm of Superglass insulation in the roof, which reduces heat loss by 46%, and improved airtightness, which cuts heat loss by 34%.
The holiday home is also equipped with Trust Neos electric wall heaters and a SunAmp Thermino phase-change water heater. Additionally, a Hybrid Power System with solar panels generates up to 89% of the home’s energy on peak summer days, while the Zypho energy saving device enhances energy efficiency through wastewater heat recovery. When paired with the Kelda shower system, this technology reduces the energy required for heating shower water by up to 66%. These innovations ensure both comfort and sustainability while minimising environmental impact.
By reimagining traditional structures and integrating smart technology, this initiative is set to dramatically lower the total cost of ownership for holiday home providers while contributing to a greener future, achieving an impressive 12.4% annual reduction in space heating energy consumption.
Although the Energy Efficient Ardennes is currently a prototype and still undergoing further testing with Swift and its partners, its innovative approach sets the stage for the future of energy-efficient holiday homes.
