Six campsites in Northern Ireland to stay in your caravan or motorhome
Published:
Touring Northern Ireland in a motorhome, campervan or caravan is a brilliant way to experience its natural beauty up close - with stunning mountain landscapes, lakes, coastal cliffs and geological wonders all within short driving distances.
Whether you're after a base for exploring the Mourne Mountains, a family-friendly lakeside spot with plentiful activities, or a coastal location close to the Giant's Causeway, we have six campsites for your consideration:
Maddybenny Farm Campsite, Coleraine
Maddybenny Farm is a friendly campsite, with spectacular views over Portrush & Scotland, and close by to numerous beaches, golf courses, scenic walks, outdoor activities and the popular Giant's Causeway.
The site is set in picturesque surroundings, with a mixture of grass and gravel pitches, suitable for caravans, campervans and motorhomes - with electric hook-up and plenty of space for awnings & parking alongside.
If you fancy some fun in the water, you can't beat kayaking, boating and paddleboarding at The Crannagh, which is just a few miles from the farm. You'll find the best of golf courses at nearby Portrush, Portstewart, Castlerock, Bushfoot and Ballycastle.
Tip: Whilst mobile signal strength is good in most areas, it can become a little patchy in remote parts of Fermanagh or Antrim, so it’s handy to download your maps in advance.
Sandycove Holiday Park, Ballywalter
Sandycove is a popular holiday spot for tourers - one of the first parks in Northern Ireland to adopt a 'Herring Bone' layout to ensure as many caravans cans view the sea as possible, and with direct access to a private safe sandy beach it makes it an ideal location for the water sports enthusiasts.
With forty pitches - each with hard stand, individual electric hook up, and access to facilities including washrooms, hot showers and chemical disposal point, a childrens play area and tennis court. Pets are welcome too!
Based in the Ards Peninsula it has long been an inspiration for many visitors who enjoy watching the amazing sunrises over the Irish Sea. The closest town is Ballywalter but the park's also nearby to the shopping towns of Donaghadee, Newtownards, Greyabbey, Bangor and to the many attractions on the Peninsula.
Watertop Farm, Ballycastle
Located on a working farm just outside Ballycastle, surrounded by the awe inspiring Glens of Antrim and The Causeway Coast, this site offers family friendly camping and touring.
You are only 10 mins from a number of stunning beaches, Murlough Bay and Carey Beach are two of the best beaches in Antrim and the farm is just 35 minutes from the famous surfing beaches on the North Coast.
Carrick-a-rede Rope bridge is just a short drive away, located near the village of Ballintoy. Suspended almost 100ft above the Atlantic Ocean, here you’ll enjoy stunning views of the coastline, Rathlin Island and on a very clear day even some Scottish isles.

"Northern Ireland is a dream destination for motorhome and campervan enthusiasts - the well-maintained routes, compact geography, and abundance of camper-friendly stops make it incredibly accessible, even for first-time motorhome travellers."

Share Discovery Village, Lisnaskea
Situated just outside of Lisnaskea, Share Discovery Village is a family-friendly site with plenty of facilities and activities for everyone to enjoy. Home to ten touring pitches for a caravan or motorhome, each with an electric hook up along with space for an awning.
Take part in water and land-based activities including canoeing and archery, play on the inflatable water park or head to the on-site leisure centre for some relaxation - unwind in the swimming pool or destress in the sauna and steam room.
Lisnaskea itself offers a blend of historical landmarks and serene natural beauty, with notable attractions such as Marble Arch Caves, Castle Archdale Country Park, Castle Balfour and Enniskillen Castle.
Tip: Rural filling stations may close early or be few and far between, so it’s best to refuel in the larger towns.
Golf Links Holiday Park, Portrush
Situated adjacent the famous Royal Portrush Golf Club with stunning views of the North Coast, it is the perfect location to stay and explore the golden blue flagged beaches, beautiful scenery and countless attractions, such as the Dunluce Castle and Old Bushmills Distillery.
The park is well equipped with facilities and places to dine, including generous touring pitch dimensions, WiFi, childrens play park, astro enclosed football pitch, restaurant, bars, wood fired pizzeria and The Barn Super Pub.
You're only 15 minutes from the world-famous Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland's first UNESCO Heritage Site, a geological wonder and home to a wealth of history and legend. The 40,000 basalt stone columns left by volcanic eruptions 60 million years ago are a must-see visit.
Chestnutt Holiday Park, Newry
Chestnutt is a five-star holiday park adjacent to the award winning Cranfield West beach, an idyllic location at the mouth of Carlingford Lough.
Their touring pitches are open and spacious, and the Mourne Mountains create the perfect backdrop to this location. the long south-facing Cranfield Beach offers excellent facilities for all visitors, whether it is for a gentle stroll, exploring 'Kingdom of Mourne' or the 'Ancient East' or for more water based activities.
The park offers a variety of on-site facilities to make your stay more enjoyable, including a children's play park, shop, cafe, laundry and Beachcomber cafe & bistro.
Tip: If you're bringing your caravan from mainland UK or Ireland, book your ferry early, especially during the busier summer months.
