Swift Group, Britain’s largest caravan, motorhome and holiday home manufacturer, received a major boost when sales of the company’s touring caravans increased by 27% over the previous year on the first day of the Motorhome and Caravan Show which opened at the NEC, Birmingham on Tuesday 16th October.
The sales are a strong indicator that despite the current tough economic climate the public is still keen to put caravan holidays high on the list of major purchases they are still keen to afford.
Swift’s strategy of developing new products in the middle to lower sections of the price market is one of the major factors behind the company’s early sales success. “Over the past 12 months we have redesigned the majority of our touring caravan products in this sector, reducing weights and providing increased value for many making them more appealing to existing owners and suitable for a wider range of cars, giving these key people a real reason to change,” Swift Group Commercial Director Nick Page commented.
Independent approval of this strategy came when the Swift Challenger Range was voted the caravanners favourite caravan in the Caravan Talk Forum Awards 2012, where the winner is selected by members of the public choosing the caravan they would most like to own. The award was announced at the NEC show yesterday, October 17th.
The Motorhome and Caravan Show is on at the NEC until this Sunday, October 21st.
