Stolen Caravan Quickly Recovered Thanks to TRACKER and West Yorkshire Police

The fitting of a TRACKER Retrieve as standard to all Swift Group 2013 caravans has once again proved its worth, with the successful return of a brand new Sprite caravan within 40 minutes of it being reported stolen from Shipley in West Yorkshire.

West Yorkshire Police with assistance from West Yorkshire Air Support Unit (Helicopter) and TRACKER’s Mesh Network were able to quickly track down the caravan in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire and return it to its owner thanks to the TRACKER Retrieve unit fitted.

TRACKER was chosen exclusively by Swift Group to be fitted to all its 2013 caravans and motorhomes as one of the most effective tracking systems available. With 20 years’ experience it is the only vehicle tracking company supported by all UK police forces, therefore providing unrivalled protection. Powered by its own battery it is ideal while the vehicle is in use or in storage.

All TRACKER’s stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) solutions use Very High Frequency (VHF) technology which offers the ultimate level of security, enabling police to locate stolen caravans even when they are concealed in containers, lock-ups, underground car parks or shipped abroad. Its technology is used by all police forces in the UK, confirming the power of TRACKER’s SVR solutions.

Stuart Chapman, Police Liaison Officer for TRACKER says, “TRACKER continues to play a key role in helping police clamp down on caravan thieves. Our unique relationship with the police, combined with the fact that all 2013 Swift caravans are fitted with Battery Powered TRACKER Retrieve, resulted in the successful recovery of Mr Smith’s caravan. We will continue working closely with caravan manufacturers and the police to ensure caravan owners get the protection they need.”

Swift Group Commercial Director, Nick Page commented, “We are always looking for key features that set our products apart and the TRACKER Retrieve system is an important addition to give our customers peace of mind. Ultimately, as it becomes a recognised feature, we hope it will deter thieves from stealing a Swift Group product.”

TRACKER’s Mesh Network creates an added defence against caravan theft by using other vehicles already fitted with a SVR unit to identify stolen ‘vans, therefore creating its very own social network. When a vehicle fitted with a TRACKER unit passes any TRACKER SVR equipped caravan that has been reported stolen, it automatically sends a signal to TRACKER providing the location of the stolen asset.
