New Product launches help Swift to over £20 million sales at NEC Show

Four new motorhome ranges and three new touring caravan ranges helped the market leading Swift Group combat the current poor economic climate and record sales of over £20 million at the recent Motorhome and Caravan Show held at the NEC, Birmingham.

Although sales were slightly behind last year’s record levels they exceeded targets that had been set to reflect the current economic gloom and provided some much need encouragement for the 2012 season.

On the touring side the Show saw the first public viewing of the new Sprite range and was also the first time the complete range of Challenger Sport and Eccles Sport models were on show.

All these ranges have been priced to appeal to families and people with smaller cars and proved an instant success.

On the motorhome side the sector leading Bolero and E500 models received their first major relaunch since they took the market by storm 6 years ago. With a new fuel efficient Fiat base vehicle they also sold well. At the top of the market, the new tag axle Swift Kon-Tiki and Bessacarr E700 models benefitted from reduced prices to dominate the show in this sector and record sales of more the double last year’s numbers.

Autocruise Panel vans remained very popular with sales matching last year’s record show, confirming them as the No.1 choice for layouts and value.

The new 10 Year Bodyshell Integrity Warranty on tourers and coachbuilt motorhomes was well received and helped sway customers towards choosing Swift Group brands.

The show also recorded a record number of leads for the group’s trend setting holiday homes which have grown in popularity with both holiday park operators and people wanting to buy a cost effective holiday home.

“The organisers did a great job in getting over 90,000 people to the show, well up on last year. This was a clear demonstration that despite the economic hardships facing many people caravanning is still one of the most popular pastimes in the UK. Our new price conscious and fuel conscious models hit the market just at the right time and are the main reason we outsold the competition and returned some very encouraging results. The winter is likely to be tough but these sales put us in a great position to kick off 2012,” Nick Page Commercial Director commented.
