For 2016 the Swift Challenger and Sterling Eccles have stunning new looks and enhanced SMART Plus construction. Sport and SE denotations are dropped and the ranges simply become Swift Challenger and Sterling Eccles.
A sweeping new front profile with flush fitting windows and sunroof above gives them a feel similar to the top of the range models. Rear panels now incorporate Swift Group's exclusive rear LED light clusters, that are not only stylish and robust, they also provide better visibility in poor weather. Side marker running lights are now also LED.
Flush fitting side windows and new graphics finish off the exterior transformation. Eccles models are differentiated from Challengers by their graphite gas locker door, step on hitch cover and wheel arch mouldings. The front gas locker door has a new single handle operated three point locking system for ease of use.
Swift's award-winning SMART intelligent construction system has been enhanced for 2016 to SMART Plus, which includes three key enhancements: 1. A new sandwich floor construction with a GRP outer skin providing greater durability from the elements. The floor is still framed with Pure for additional strength and for fixing to the chassis and walls. All outer surfaces are now made from non-hygroscopic materials. 2. The roof has also been upgraded and is now in hail resistant GRP and 3. The front window jig is now a full GRP and foam construction. This reduces the amount of parts in the panel and gives the panel a flatter and stiffer surface for the front GRP panel and windows to fix to.
An upgraded 80W solar panel comes as standard and fixing bars have been added to the rear panel to allow a Thule rear mounted cycle rack to be fitted by the owner.
Inside Swift Challenger models keep the 'Aralie Sen' woodgrain with its contemporary ashen brown hue. Upper locker doors have a new gloss finish with a chrome inlay which again gives a feel of the more expensive ranges. 'Zimba' soft furnishings are light and bright. A cream base fabric with dark brown thread running through ties in with the earthy brown stripe in the back rest and stylised flower in the curtain.
Sterling Eccles models keep their distinctive interior style with modern hessian effect furniture with matt white locker doors. New Smoked Oak lower inlays to upper locker doors give a more luxurious feel. New 'Guetta' soft furnishings combine an earthy brown woven seat fabric with soft sheen bronze cushions and complementary curtains with a leaf pattern. A secondary suede effect beige cushion adds an extra dimension.
For improved seating and sleeping comfort, new Swift AirWave bedding gives a sleeker silhouette to the seat cushions whilst also providing just the right combination of support and cushioning. The unique Swift AirWave construction gives the feel and comfort of a mattress topper when the cushions are turned over and used to make up the front bed. Fixed beds retain the Duvalay Duvalite mattress, exclusive as standard equipment to the Swift Group.
Both ranges have the option of SwiftShield fabric. It has a soft suede type feel and has been cleverly treated during manufacturing to resist stains. It is very easy to clean and just requires a soft damp cloth which will remove most stains.
The ranges continue with Truma Combi heating as standard. As an additional dealer fitted upgrade this can be controlled via a Truma iNet box to allow remote control and monitoring of the Truma boiler heating system. There is also an option to upgrade to an Alde wet heating system which features as standard in more premium ranges.
TV brackets, where fitted, have the addition a travel lock.
All lighting remains low energy LED with improved lighting and styling to be found in washroom areas. The new Ecocamel Orbit shower head now has an on/off button to help conserve water and basin taps swivel for improved use.
Kitchen upgrades added last year follow through with the Aspire MKII oven and Dometic fridge 8 Series 110 litre fridge with removable freezer compartment. The handy chopping and draining board have been modified so they nestle neatly together for easy storage. The Eccles range also features stylish graphite kitchen cupboard doors.
Recognising owners' desire to protect their investment, all Swift group touring caravans again come fitted with a “TRACKER Retrieve” Thatcham approved tracking system. Many insurers offer discounts for trackers, and it could save customers several hundred pounds.
There are 8 models in the range taken from the 2015 Sport line-up but with number denotation changes. All new Conqueror and Elite ranges now sits above the Challenger and Eccles ranges upgrading the previous SE range (see separate release for further details).
Swift Group Commercial Director, Nick Page commented, “Replacing the existing Sport ranges the new Swift Challenger and Sterling Eccles ranges have the look and feel of more premium ranges and with the new Alde heating option and other great features, customers can have all this at a very competitive price.”
