The Swift Group’s class-leading Bessacarr E789 TAG axle model, which was launched at the International Caravan & Motorhome Show in October 2007, has beaten off strong competition and won the award for ‘Best Coachbuilt in the over £45,000’ category at The Caravan Club’s prestigious Motor Caravan Design and Drive Awards 2008.
The Bessacarr E789 layout features a raised rear double bed with garage space underneath, centre kitchen and washroom, front dinette or single bed and a second large and comfortable double bed over the cab.
Described by judges as ‘a long-haul tourer that is really hard to fault’, the E789 is over 28ft long (8.67m) and built on the Fiat/AL-KO low-line chassis with 190mm (7 1/2”) double floor, featuring underfloor storage space, which is suitable for large or muddy items.
Swift Group Marketing Director Richard White said: “The E789 is a match for anything our European competitors have to offer. It combines car standards of driving and comfort with an interior design that meets the requirements of British customers perfectly.”
“This is a great result for the company as we continue to strive to provide products that offer the highest overall standards in design, specification and value for money.” Nick Page, Commercial Director commented.
Fifty six motorhomes were submitted for the Motor Caravan Design and Drive Awards, the biggest ever entry in the competition’s nine-year history. The aim of the Awards is to provide Club members, and Motor Caravanners in general, with fair and impartial assessments of the vehicles submitted for appraisal. All manufacturers are invited to submit entries.
Commenting on the awards, Caravan Club Chairman, Grenville Chamberlain, said “We are over the moon at the fantastic support the industry and manufacturers have given this event.”
