The 4th October was a memorable day for the Swift Group as longest ever owners of Swift Caravans, Barry and Marion Brown, arrived for an extra special handover of the keys to their 10th consecutive Swift caravan. There to greet them was Peter Smith, Swift Group Chairman and a host of other Swift people.
After 45yrs of owning Swift, you would think it hard to impress Barry and Marion Brown ‘We are amazed’ said Barry ‘this is our 10th Swift caravan (the new Swift Challenger SE) and this latest model is the best yet with some fantastic developments, the Alde Central heating is brilliant for us as we get older, and the Sunroof, LED lights, fixed beds and stylish design are impressive.
Our first ever caravan had a canvas roof, a pin rather than a tow ball and a 12 volt battery within the gas box (now illegal), but our Swift Caravans have always been a real home from home. I’ve always been a bit of a wanderer’ explained Barry ‘and we really enjoy the flexibility of caravanning, that we can pack up and go where we want, find a site and park up.’
For 45yrs, Barry and Marion Brown have been touring around the UK and the rest of Europe in a Swift Caravan ‘every year has a highlight’ says Barry as he shares some of their most memorable experiences including a 16 day, 3000 mile trip around 6 Countries of Europe that took in the incredible Millau Viaduct, designed by Sir Norman Foster and their escapades at some 600 plus rallies they have been involved with.
Asked why he has always bought Swift, Barry talks about how responsive and personable the people at Swift have always been in dealing with issues, making sure they are quickly fixed. ‘The Swift quality is second to none, but even then things can go wrong, but as soon as they do, they are sorted, what more could you ask for’.
Peter Smith, Swift Group Chairman, who himself has been involved with Swift for over 45 years commented ‘We are delighted that Barry and Marion have had so much enjoyment from owning Swift Caravans over the years, and look forward to celebrating 50yrs of Swift ownership with them in 2017.’
A combined 135 Swift Years!
