Autocruise retains No.1 Van conversion spot and introduces new sporty Carrera 4 model

For choice, specification and value Autocruise remains the No.1 choice for van conversions in the UK. Its winning formula continues for 2014 with enhanced heating and a new sporty Carrera 4 model.

All Autocruise models have a heating upgrade from a Truma Combi 2 to Combi 4 for 2014. This gives a more efficient, faster heat up meaning they easily achieve the Grade 3 standard for heating and thermal insulation, which means the interior warms up from minus 15oC to 20oC in under 4 hours and the water system still works. Crucially Swift Group proves this by using cold chamber testing, not just by mathematical calculation as many manufacturers do.

The range is based on a Peugeot Boxer van or a Fiat Ducato van, if an automatic engine option is selected. These vans were specially designed to be motorhomes. Their car-like interiors emphasise that and Autocruise add extra luxury with an integrated, factory fit radio/CD player and burr wood effect dashboard. They’re easy to drive, quiet, economical and comply with the latest Euro 5 emission standards.

The main range continues with the same leading specification as last year with a addition of a roll-out awning as standard and comes in 6 different models from the smaller Jazz and Rhythm Compact to the larger Forte which can sleep and travel four people.

Totally new for 2014 is the sporty Carrera 4 which comes with a host of additional features over the standard range and is aimed at those who want to get out and about and experience new challenges.

Based on a 3.5 tonne long wheel base chassis with a 130bp engine it can carry up to 4 people and offers flexible space with a front travelling dinette and large transverse rear bed for 2 people to sleep. This can be fixed or folded up, allowing storage under the bed or between the two bed bases for large items, enabling the accommodation of anything from general luggage to sports equipment. There is also a good size washroom and well-equipped kitchen.

The all white exterior has a striking look with stylish graphics, 16” alloy wheels and privacy blacked out windows. A roof rack is ideal for carrying sporting equipment and a roll out canopy awning provides shade.

To help keep the accommodation battery topped up there is a 40W solar panel.

Upgraded features include air conditioning, cruise control, upgraded sound system with radio/CD player with Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity, USB iPod/ MP3 device connection and steering wheel controls, fog lights and rear parking sensors.

Inside the soft furnishings continue the sporty feel with black leather surround, black quilted effect seat and backrest and an orange highlight strip. The floor is covered in French oak effect lino. Gloss white locker doors with chunky chrome catches, chrome berker sockets, ‘Twirl’ laminate and hessian effect furniture panels finish off the trendsetting feel.

The overhead and under locker lighting is dimmable and a 22” Avtex flatscreen TV with DVD and freeview is supplied that can be mounted in the front or rear. An Avtex aerial ensures a good signal.

An optional “Comfort Pack” can be added to the standard range full of key upgrades including cab air-conditioning and reversing sensors. It’s very keenly priced, so all customers will want to specify it. Also, Fiat’s new automatic gearboxes are now available with the 130bhp engine, and that’s expected to be a popular option.

With such well-equipped and desirable vans, customers may well be concerned about security. Swift Group has thought of that, and a TRACKER Retrieve” Thatcham approved tracking system is now standard equipment. Many insurers insist on trackers, so it could save customers several hundred pounds for fitting one later.

A final differentiator in the panel van market is the reassurance that all Autocruise models have European Whole Vehicle Type Approval which ensures compliance with strict weight, dimension and safety regulations – Autocruise are the first UK panel van manufacturer to comply with these regulations.

“Autocruise continues to lead the van conversion market with its innovative layouts and complete specifications combined with value for money. The new Carrera 4 offers an exciting addition with a real wow factor that is sure to turn heads and attract new customers to the Autocruise brand,” commented Nick Page, Swift Group Commercial Director.
