All new Swift Esprit and Bessacarr 400 ranges with new styling, higher equipment levels and more competitive pricing
06 August 2013
The Swift Sundance and current Bessacarr E400 ranges have been discontinued for 2014. Their five best selling layouts have been carried forward into the new Swift Esprit and Bessacarr 400 Series, three new layouts have been added and they have been tailored to offer a much higher equipment level, as standard. Competitively priced, these new motorhomes will be a big temptation for customers buying into a new motorhome.
Making them truly suitable for all year round use, all models come with a Truma Combi 6 boiler and Winter Pack, which includes fresh and waste water tank heaters, drain insulation and fridge vent covers, fitted at standard. They easily achieve Grade 3 performance for thermal insulation.
A Truma 'Crash Sensor Mono' regulator even allows the heating system to be safely operated while travelling to keep the whole living space warm.
All models are powered by the Fiat 2.3 litre, 130bhp Euro5+ turbo diesel with a 6-speed gearbox. The keenly priced Driver’s pack adds cab air-conditioning and cruise control.
Fiat’s automatic gearbox is available as an option with the standard 130bhp economical engine, which is a popular choice.
The body shell has gloss white corner cappings for a sleeker profile. New graphics follow the Swift and Bessacarr family style and both ranges have gloss white cabs, side and rear panels with a high level brake light. The rear panel is also suitable for mounting a low or high level bike rack.
The high specification Seitz exterior door comes with secure 2-point locking, window, integral flyscreen, door retainer and bin. A spare wheel is included as standard.
Inside Swift Esprit models have ‘Mali Acacia’ woodgrain and a neutral warm grey seating fabric with a dark contrast accentuating the detail in the backrest and tying in with the abstract leaf pattern curtains. Bessacarr 400 models have ‘Italian Ash’ woodgrain with a light beige seating fabric with abstract swirl back rest detail and plain colour matching curtains. Lockers have contrasting chrome positive catches with platinum white inlays on Esprit models and hessian effect inlays on 400’s.
Both ranges have the option of ‘Impala’ stain resistant easy-clean seating fabric with a soft nubuck texture, unique to Swift Group.
Also exclusive to Swift Group is the fitting of an ultra comfortable ‘Duvalay Duvalite’ mattress in fixed bed layouts. Brought to recognition on Dragon’s Den and now backed by Hilary Devey, the ‘Duvalay Duvalite’ is a new innovative mattress made with lightweight memory fibre technology. This hypoallergenic fibre remains as comfortable as memory foam but has many other benefits. Helping eliminate heat retention it gives superior temperature harmony, excellent pressure relief and is durable and resilient. It is resistant to dust-mites and is 100% recyclable. Being ultra light weight it also contributes to significant weight savings.
The 462 and 496 models with rear U-shaped lounge have the option of fitting a top chest with drawers and occasional table.
Practical removable carpets are sectioned, giving the flexibility to leave carpet in lounge areas and remove it from entrance door areas if required exposing the French oak effect floor vinyl.
The whole lighting system is ultra-low energy with over-locker ambient lighting in addition to LED spots and down-lighters. There are even low-level night lights that operate when travelling and an illuminated kitchen splash back. Swan neck cab reading lights are also fitted to all models.
The kitchen has a new style sink unit with lit splash back. It comes fully equipped with a stylish-looking 96 or 112 litre Dometic 8-Series fridge, which has an interior light and the flexibility of a removable freezer compartment, full oven with dual fuel hob and built in microwave oven.
A key change to layouts in all models, except the 484, is the luxury of a separate shower cubicle with Eco Camel shower head and hose which cleverly injects air directly into the water stream so you use less water while experiencing a more powerful shower. The washroom mirror has mini down lights above.
The new 4 berth, 4 seater 484 is a low-line model offering a raised rear bed with garage storage underneath at 6.5m in length and has folding screen to create a wet dry division for the showering area and toilet.
The other two new layouts are the 2 berth low-line 442 with front parallel lounge and luxury transverse rear washroom and a modified 4 berth, 4 seater 444 with front travelling seats, fixed rear bed and transverse rear washroom.
All in all there are six low-line and two high-line models offering between two to six berths. Low-line models have a useful front locker with decorative lighting and high-line models have a comfortable overcab bed.
Introduced last year, all models come with a “TRACKER Retrieve” Thatcham approved tracking system and the reassurance of Swift Group’s 10-year body integrity warranty. Many insurers insist on trackers, so it could save customers several hundred pounds for fitting one later.
“ For anyone looking for a new motorhome with a high level of specification and mid market budget the new Swift Esprit and Bessacarr 400 ranges have been designed and specified to offer an unrivalled package that is going to be very attractive to customers ”, commented Nick Page, Swift Group Commercial Director.
